    Fairmont and Harding Elementary Schools

    Attendance Area Changes

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1. Why are you changing attendance boundaries?
Fairmont has faced some overcrowding in recent years, displacing many kindergarten students to neighboring schools. By making some minor changes to attendance areas for Fairmont and Harding, enrollment will be more balanced over the course of the next several years. This will reduce some of the strain placed on Fairmont parents during the registration period as students are shuffled to other schools due to overcrowding.

    2. Will my child have to leave their current school?
This change simply adds new areas to the Harding attendance zone, so this will not affect any students currently attending Harding or families who are zoned to attend Harding.
Students currently enrolled at Fairmont will remain at Fairmont. This change will affect Fairmont’s kindergarteners and other incoming new 1-6 grade students living within the adjusted attendance areas entering school in August 2019 and later.

    3. Will my child’s younger siblings be allowed to attend Fairmont?
An incoming kindergarten student who has an older sibling currently enrolled at Fairmont (and will continue to attend school there in the 2019-20 school year), will have the opportunity to enroll at Fairmont. However, we cannot guarantee there will be space at Fairmont.

    4. I have concerns, who do I contact?
Please contact your school principal or Executive Director Ruben Aurelio at (510) 231-1110 or ruben.aurelio@wccusd.net.

    5. Where can I get more information?
Two community meetings have been scheduled. The first will be held in Thursday, December 20, 2018, at 7 p.m. at Harding and the second on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at 7 p.m. at Fairmont. The 香港六合彩直播 Board of Education will discuss this issue at its meeting on January 9, 2019.
