Dear Chavez Families,

Welcome back to a new school year! I hope this summer has been a time of rest, fun, and special moments for you and your family. As we prepare to start another school year of learning, growth, and play, I want to extend a warm welcome to our returning families and those who are joining us for the first time. Our school truly is a community, and we are thrilled to have you as the most important part of it. We look forward to seeing you on our first day of school on August 19th, which is a minimum day- 1:23 dismissal for TK/Kinder, 1:30 1st-3rd, 1:50 4th-6th.

This year promises to be full of opportunities for our students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Our incredibly dedicated teachers and staff are working hard to get their classrooms and lessons ready to engage and inspire our students. At Chavez, we all work hard to create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child can be successful and thrive. 

We have some exciting changes taking place this year, all of which serve to benefit our students and their academic growth in reading and in math. Students in every grade will be working with a research-based supplemental English language Arts curriculum called Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA); this program is grounded in the science of reading and we are excited to see the impact this can have on growing our students’ reading and writing abilities. For mathematics, we will continue to leverage Zearn as our math curriculum; our scholars did amazing work on Zearn last year! Chavez was regularly featured as having some of the highest data in terms of student time on Zearn and lessons completed per week; let’s keep it up! 

As you know, communication is key to a successful school year; please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or to the office if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas. We are here to support you and your child every step of the way! Thank you for entrusting us with the privilege of educating your child. We are excited to see the learning, the growth, the fun, and the accomplishments that this year will bring. Let’s have a great year together!

Estimadas familias de Chavez,

¡Bienvenidos a un nuevo año escolar! Espero que este verano haya sido un momento de descanso, diversión y momentos especiales para usted y su familia. Mientras nos preparamos para comenzar otro año escolar lleno de aprendizaje, crecimiento, y juegos, quiero darles una bienvenida a nuestras familias que regresan y a quienes se unen a nosotros por primera vez. Nuestra escuela es verdaderamente una comunidad y estamos encantados de tenerlos como la parte más importante de ella. Esperamos verte en nuestro primer día de clases el 19 de agosto, que es un día mínimo- 1:23 salida para TK/Kinder, 1:30 1er-3er grado, 1:50 4to-6to grado.

Este año promete estar lleno de oportunidades para que nuestros estudiantes crezcan académicamente, socialmente y emocionalmente. Nuestros maestros y personal increíblemente dedicados están trabajando arduamente para preparar sus aulas y lecciones para involucrar e inspirar a nuestros estudiantes. En Chavez, todos trabajamos arduamente para crear y mantener un ambiente seguro, inclusivo y enriquecedor donde cada niño pueda tener éxito y prosperar.

Tenemos algunos cambios emocionantes que se están llevando a cabo este año, los cuales sirven para beneficiar a nuestros estudiantes y su crecimiento académico en lectura y matemáticas. Los estudiantes de cada grado trabajarán con un plan de estudios complementario de lengua y literatura en inglés basado en investigaciones llamado Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA); este programa se basa en la ciencia de la lectura y estamos emocionados de ver el impacto que esto puede tener en el crecimiento de las habilidades de lectura y escritura de nuestros estudiantes. Para matemáticas, continuaremos usando Zearn como nuestro plan de estudios de matemáticas; ¡nuestros estudiantes hicieron un trabajo increíble en Zearn el año pasado! Chávez fue destacado regularmente por tener algunos de los datos más altos en términos de tiempo de los estudiantes en Zearn y lecciones completadas por semana; ¡sigamos así! 

Como saben, la comunicación es clave para un año escolar exitoso; no duden en comunicarse con el maestro de su hijo o con la oficina si tienen alguna pregunta, inquietud o idea. ¡Estamos aquí para apoyarlos a ustedes y a su hijo en cada paso del camino! Gracias por confiarnos el privilegio de educar a su hijo. Estamos emocionados de ver el aprendizaje, el crecimiento, la diversión y los logros que traerá este año. ¡Tengamos un gran año juntos!
